Balloon Safari
The balloon experience starts before dawn, with collections as early as 4am. After a safety briefing, passengers climb aboard at 6:30am while the balloon is tethered. With compartments and rails for safety, the balloon is released when everyone is on board and you lift off.
Maasai Village Tour
Visit a Maasai village on your safari for $50 per vehicle. Get a tour of their village and learn about their culture. Some clients have reported discomfort, and authenticity is affected by its popularity. You may be encouraged to buy their crafts, but it's not required. We're looking for other options. We want to be upfront about the experience.
Empakai Crater Hike
The Empakaai Crater is a great place to break up a vehicle-based safari in the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area. With stunning views of the crater and Oldoinyo Lengai, Tanzania's most active volcano, an experienced guide and NCA ranger will lead you on a 30-45 minute descent into the crater through thick, mountainous forest. There is superb birding around the lake and the chance to see flamingos, as well as big game like buffalo, hyena and elephant.
Night Game Drive
Lake Manyara has 11 different ecosystems and is perfect for a night game drive. This area is home to various animals and plants such as the lake, cliffs, forest, and highlands. Night drives offer sightings of elusive animals such as genets, civet cats, and porcupines. Hippos are easier to spot since they usually forage on the roadside. Leopards and lions can also be seen, with frequent sightings of leopards and lions being more active at night.
Walking Safari
Guests want to explore Tanzania beyond safari vehicles. Take a short walking safari in Manyara, Tarangire and Arusha National Parks to feel connected to the environment and focus on smaller things like birds, insects, plants, and animal tracks. You'll be accompanied by an armed ranger in case you encounter larger animals. Get up close and personal with wildlife for an exciting experience that enriches your safari with Lion King.
Hadzabe and Tonga Tribe Village Visit
The Hadzabe bushmen and Datoga and Mbulu tribes live around Lake Eyasi, south of Ngorongoro Highlands. Cultural visits are possible to see how they live. The Hadzabe are one of Africa's oldest tribes and maintain a hunter-gatherer lifestyle without farming. The Datoga are skilled farmers and craftsmen who keep various domestic animals, including the essential cattle.
Oldonyo Lengai Active Volcanic Mountain
Oldonyo Lengai is an active volcanic mountain that boasts panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
