Itinerary Details

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a representative of Savannah quest will be waiting for you by the arrival terminal, ready to introduce themselves and help you with your languages. Once settled in the vehicle you will be slightly briefed of your destination and will be transferred straight to your luxury hotel

After an early morning breakfast, you will depart Arusha from your accommodation and drive to Tarangire National Park, approximately two hours away. On the way you will pass bustling Maasai villages and the vast open plains that have become synonymous with images of Africa.

Often overlooked, Tarangire offers iconic safari scenery, from the large Baobab trees where elephants gather to escape the sun, to the Tarangire River lined with beautiful acacia trees. The Tarangire River is a vital source of water for the game there, and one of the few in the region that runs throughout all seasons making the park self-sustaining and frequently visited by the park’s large elephant population, zebras, and antelopes.

Once your morning game drive is complete, you can admire a great view of the river while you enjoy your lunch break at the picnic site. After your lunch break you will have the final game drive of the day as your guide tries to end it on a high note, searching for the animals you have yet to see.

After your day’s drive is done, you’ll retire to your accommodation.

We’ll take an early breakfast, as we’ve got a big day of exploration and adventure ahead of us!

We’ll begin the day with the scenic drive towards the Serengeti. Along the way we’ll pass through karatu town and enter the Ngoro Ngoro conservation gates. From there you will mostly be on the rim of the crater, the mist-shrouded rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you might be lucky enough to glimpse cape buffalo, baboons, or even elephants and leopards in the dense undergrowth.

Its going to be a four drive to the Serengeti gate, and there plenty of game on the way but we shall definitely stop by and have a cultural experience at one of the Maasai bomas where you’ll have the opportunity to witness (and participate in) traditional Maasai dance, tour an authentic Maasai village, and even do a little souvenir shopping at the local market.

After that you will continue to Nabi(Serengeti gates) where you will have a delicious lunch at the Serengeti National Park picnic area. And once you’re done it will be time to explore the Serengeti itself. Witness Africa’s iconic savannah landscape and be amazed by the sheer number of animals that roam these grassy plains.

Dinner and overnight in the heart of the Serengeti National Park according to the standard and the type of accommodation requested from our options.

Serengeti National Park is widely known as the place to go on safari, mainly because of the Great Migration that passes through here. The enormous, stampeding herds are impressive, as are the vast number of predators that live here: over four thousand lions, 225 cheetahs, a thousand leopards, 3500 hyenas and hundreds of wild dogs! And of course, plenty of other beautiful animals, which your guide will be delighted to search for together with you.

And so, for today you can plan with your however you want to explore Serengeti. Whether it’s early morning game drive or late evening, it is up to feel free to customize this day to your liking.

After breakfast, you will wind your way towards Ngorongoro Crater, hopefully enjoying more wonder on the way! Ngorongoro Crater was formed around three million years ago when a volcano (thought to be larger than Kilimanjaro) exploded and collapsed in on itself. It has a diameter of approximately 19km (12 miles) and boasts one of the densest large mammal populations in the whole of the African continent. Over 30,000 animals (including the endangered black Rhino) call this unique place home.

After a full afternoon inside the Crater, you will drive to your accommodation in Karatu.

After breakfast for the drive to Lake Manyara National Park, just minutes away from your accommodation. The park is truly a photographer’s playground and offers some of the best game viewing in the world. You can expect to see many of Africa’s most well-known animals, with the tree-climbing lions a particular treat. These proud predators lounge in acacia trees practically begging to be photographed.

Bird-watchers will find Lake Manyara is an absolute delight, with a huge variety of birds on display in the park. Even the novice can expect to be amazed by large flamingo flocks, circling birds of prey, and the brightly colored lilac breasted roller.

You will enjoy your picnic lunch in the park before you start heading back to arusha. Once arrived you will be drop at you chosen accommodation for the night.

Depending on your scheduled flight you will be driven by a representative of savannah quest safaris to the chosen airport for departure. We as savannah team shall say our goodbyes and safe journey, and be back because this was just a taste of what Tanzanian safaris has to offer.

Necessary Items

The greater part of your trip you will be spent sitting, so your clothes should be comfortable and made from soft, natural fabrics with as little elastics, laces, belts or decorations (like huge buttons) as possible. Take into consideration that to see certain animals you will have to start your day early in the morning, and it may be cold outside, so you should not forget to pack some warm clothes. For example, in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area before and after sunset the temperature can fall to 0°C.
